Q.  Who can join the Young Marines?
A.  
All boys and girls from ages 8 through high school graduation (20 years old maximum) are welcome to join the Capital Area Young Marines.

Q.  Where and when do you meet?

A.  We meet on the first and third Saturday of each month; check the Calendar and/or the Drill Info link for times and locations.  

Q.  What do the Capital Area Young Marines do?
A.  
Past events for the Capital Area Young Marines include overnight camping at Enchanted Rock with rappelling, visiting servicemen at the Kerrville VA Hospital, trips to see an aircraft carrier at Corpus Christi and tour the Coast Guard station at Galveston, participating in a memorial service in Bremond for a fallen Marine recently discovered in Vietnam, providing the color guard for a memorial service at Sun City and a September 11 remembrance ceremony, assisting with community events such as Toys for Tots, the 3M Marathon, the Parks and Wildlife Expo, and TDS Wildlife Ranch, and meeting YMs from across Texas at the Regimental Encampment. YMs also have regular physical activity (exercising and sports) and educational courses such as quarterly drug awareness training. 

Q.  What is the cost?
A.
  The initial registration fee is $100.  The re-registration fee is $80 per year.*   

Q.  What does my child need to participate in the Young Marines?
A.  Capital Area Young Marines will outfit young marines with a blouse with name tags and patches, trousers, a cover (hat), web belt, red Young Marines PT t-shirt, unit t-shirt, binder, and Young Marine Guide Book.  We also provide ranks and ribbons.  Parents will need to provide combat style boots, black shorts, white t-shirts, black socks, gray sweat pants and sweat shirt, lensatic compass, whistle, sleeping bag, and camelbak. 

Q.  How long is Recruit Training Camp?
A.  Recruit Training Camp is held on Camp Bullis in San Antonio during Spring Break.  The cost for the one week Recruit Training Camp is $150 and includes food and lodging.*

Q. Are all the staff Marines?
A. Not all instructors are Marines or former Marines. We also have instructors that are affiliated with the Army and Navy, as well as parents that have not served in the military.  We are always in need of adult volunteers.  Contact the CO or XO if you are interested in volunteering.
