In Loving Memory:

It is with a sad heart, that I am brought to make this post. It is an unfortunate occasional duty of a Chaplain to be the bearer of news that is difficult to express. This occasion is difficult indeed.

Zane Dixon, one of our former Young Marines, has made his transition from this life to the next. Whatever our individual view of that transition and whatever circumstances by which that transition comes, it is always an event that brings us deep emotion and much introspection.

On May 4th, 2016, Zane was in an accident while traveling home from work. Zane was riding his motorcycle home in Round Rock at about 10pm when he was hit by a car just a few blocks from his home. This week, Zane succumbed to his injuries and has passed away. He leaves a wife and a 5 month old daughter behind.

It is difficult to find words adequate to soothe the deep sadness of events like these. I believe personally, that we should do our best to remember the joy, the love, and the friendship of every soul with which we come into contact, as a means of honoring the memory of those individuals. I tend to think that those souls moving to whatever we believe comes next, take with them the love, the friendship, and the joy.

I did not have the privilege of knowing Zane personally, as he had moved out of the unit before our arrival. But, I am told by everyone that did know him, that he was a remarkable young man. Everyone that I have spoken to that knew him, tells me that he was a strong, hard working, caring individual with an exemplary character outweighed only by his loving nature. So, it is with love and respect, that we honor this young man and offer our condolences to his family.

I will personally pray for your family in my way and I know you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.
